It has been for yea...It is about their profit line. It has been for years. I haven't looked very far at anything that LL is doing these days, unless it specifically impacts the Metaverse as a whole, such as the Havok sublicensing in the viewers. But it will not surprise me if the quest building Residents finding their builds as being 'featured' on Steam or used in some way to promote SL, but not making any money themselves from those promotions.

My comment regarding hiring is more oriented on what we are likely to see in the future of SL customer service and technical support. Don't quote me word for word but that is how I recall reading it and, of course, this gives LL the right to use anything in their own works I do believe.

So far I have only seen a few Linden Realms quest games and I haven't read anything about them hiring for that department. However, I would have thought the Linden Realms games are only there as a kick starter to encourage game makers to build their own. Surely that is why LL aim to list on Steam but my query is really about what LL and Steam will make out of it from the small-time game makers and the other point was, does it really offer anything at all of benefit to the residents of Second Life who ultimately are paying for the developments through high tier charges. Indeed, would LL even need to charge so much if they left well alone and concentrated on fixing and maintaining SL the virtual world?

I just think everything they are doing is about raising their profit line with scant regard for the existing user base.Talla Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11125668800530203529noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6880640158139598308.post-28433893907123889962012-10-31T09:27:22.948-07:002012-10-31T09:27:22.948-07:00Regarding the use of Havok by developers, etc; &qu...Regarding the use of Havok by developers, etc; "The people who will be most interested, of course, will be low budget and garage video game developers who are looking to make money on their creations."

Doesn't SL's ToS have language that basically gives them an open license to use ALL content as they see fit? Its been a couple of years since I read it, but I recall something along those lines.

And I'll raise the question here; Has anyone seen or read anything about LL hiring? Or who is going to be working on those new titles? I would think that such news would be all over the place, but I can't seem to find anything, other than a link to LL's hiring page, something almost every company has. So far, I am guessing that the new products will be staffed by people working on SL.

Firestorm has become my WorkShop viewer. I use different viewers for different things, keeps the caches sane. Firestorm has all the features I need to do almost all my building. Add AuroraSim compatibility and an export/import function and I'd be using it everywhere.Sarge Misfithttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13127904383770594050noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6880640158139598308.post-12208369816882737292012-10-31T06:06:03.976-07:002012-10-31T06:06:03.976-07:00Good to see Firestorm people keeping their promise...Good to see Firestorm people keeping their promise to back Open Sim. I use Firestorm in SL and Imprudence in OSgrid because it has import/export but that is needed in a V3 viewer because we need to see Mesh too. Better all in one viewer and good that it can be used in SL and OSgrid still. I thought that was not going to be possible.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
